White Print, India's First English Lifestyle Magazine in Braille was founded by Upasana Makati in May 2013. The monthly magazine was started in the hope of filling a large void in the lives of the persons with blindness by providing a regular source of Braille literature through articles and vignettes on politics, sports, entertainment, travel, short stories, food and many more. The magazine continues to be printed at the National Association for the Blind and is circulated across India, reaching the nooks and corners of the nation.
At White Print, the mission has always been to embrace the values of inclusion and diversity. Considering it crucial to inculcate these values at a young age, the company forayed into publishing children's literature with Look Out, Look Within - an illustrated storybook to promote inclusion and diversity in the minds of children. Flowers for Sunaina, an e-storybook followed in 2020.
The latest picture book, Run Saba, Run! is a fun-filled, adventurous journey of Saba and Kabir written with the hope of shattering little myths regarding sports played by persons with blindness and encouraging diversity and inclusion in the blossoming young minds of today.
Upasana is a recipient of the First Lady Award by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, 2018 and has featured in acclaimed lists such as Forbes India 30 Under 30 and Fortune India 40 Under 40.
